Re: is anybody there ?
Hello Edwin,
So sorry you ended up back inside, have they let you escape yet? I hope that things are healing and settling better now. I am finally feeling a bit more human although energy levels are a bit blah and I am still occasionally coughing. The rib pain at sternum area has been the worst but is starting to ease. Hope you are getting the wonderful sunshine that we are enjoying this afternoon, been around the market and several bunches of daffodils followed me home!
Take care of yourwelf,
Sue x

Re: is anybody there ?
Hi All
Thank you for your kind wishes.
I escaped hospital yesterday evening.
Now I have two major challenges - getting my Hb back to its target range, which is going to tale a while and seeing if my renal function recovers from its dip into dialysysland.
The next few weeks will be with lots of things crossed !
Edwin

There's no place like home, glad you finally escaped and I hope you are able to rest up and regain your strength. For once in my life I now have a respectable Hb of 14.1, but my Ferritin is on the low side of 22.5 and folate 2.9, should I still be supplementing iron to get my stores up??
Take it easy,
Sue

Re: is anybody there ?
Amanda,
I am sorry about Tazz. It's so hard to lose a pet.
I have had to take two dogs in, years apart, and it's so heartbreaking. With the second one it couldn't be put off any longer. I was rummaging around my cupboard because I thought I had a pain pill there somewhere with some codeine in it. I finally found it and gave it to her and it helped her sleep and be more comfortable.
Healing thoughts for you. I don't think you are feeling the best right now.
Thinking of you Amanda,
xxx, Nancy

Ohhh Amanda,
I am so sorry. I know how much she meant to you and how much our pets are an integral part of family life. Pass the tissues please, can't help it but eyes are welling up. Just want to give you a gentle cyber hug and rest in peace Little Tazz.
Hugs for you,
Sue x

Sue, I do not feel qualified to comment on your figures.
My particular interest in Hb and Ferritin are because of CKD, so these levels need to be managed.
My Hb should be between 10 and 12 (no more, no less) and Ferritin above 150.
I have a bi-weekly ESA injection for stimulating the production of Erethropoetin and this needs a good level of Ferritin in order to produce Haemoglobin.
When the Ferritin drops, I have iron infusions.
I am waiting to hear from the Exeter renal team about a plan to re-build by Hb from 8.2 and, probably, low Ferritin, as I lost a lot of blood.
My previous Nephrologist had always said that Iron tables were not effective - probably because it takes too long to rebuild the level.

Re: is anybody there ?
Thanks for replying!
Guess I ought to run it past my GP next time I see him. I just noticed on my last print out that my Hb has gone from 9 post hip replacement up to 14.1! I had been taking Floradix for several months as they are about the only iron that does not go straight through me. However my ferritin does look on the low side but the range is huge, 10 to over 200 or something. I do hope that you can raise your levels quickly, I have suffered years of anaemia and know how tired it makes you.
Take care, Sue x

Look like you are OK with your Hb Sue.
haemoglobin (reference range)
My range is specifically because of CKD.

Meet Monty, picking him up on Saturday, he's no spring chicken at 7 years old and he has health issues but hopefully he will be happy here for whatever time he has left.

Re: is anybody there ?
Oh, my goodness, I am so very sorry to hear of all of this.
Amanda, I am so very sorry about Tazz. I know the pain of losing a pet all too well. I accidentally ran over our kitty in our driveway in 1993. That was horrible! Shortly afterward, I brought in 2 other kitties. About 8 years later I brought in 4 more kitties. I had 6 kitties here at one time for several years. Over the past 8 years I have lost 4 of them. The 2 I have left are 15 and almost 15 years old. I know that time is getting closer, and I really don't know how I'm going to go through that 2 more times. I don't know if my heart can handle it. The only consolation I have is in knowing that they were all sick and suffering (except for the one I killed in the driveway), and now they no longer are. They are happy and romping around in heaven! They are probably all up there playing with Tazz now!
Nellie and Edwin, I am also very sorry to hear about Steve. This is just so sad. I know my kitties and Tazz are all up there playing together now, and one day we will all see them again. I truly believe that. By the way, Monty is adorable!! I'm sure he will love his new home.
Prayers on the way for you all to ease your pain.
